Davis and Larby Get Taste of City Life

Two of Tasmania’s most promising youth players, Ewan Larby and Oliver Davis from South Hobart and Olympia Warriors have spent the past week training with the Melbourne City Under 20 group.

Each of the players trained well during the week and had the experience of playing an intra club game as part of their schedule, giving them the chance to impress the City coaching staff in match scenarios.

FFT Assistant Technical Director Anthony Alexander said the boys had earned the opportunity following their strong showing in last years NTC Challenge.

“This was a great opportunity for these two boys to test themselves against some of the best youth players in the country as a reward for their strong performance at the 2017 NTC challenge. It will have been a tremendous learning experience for them. ”

Whilst on the trip, the boys also met up with Tasmanian and Melbourne City A-league rising star Nathaniel Atkinson and current City Under 18 player Jake Parish, who had relocated across at the beginning of the year to join City’s youth set up. With former Olympia defender Aidan Farquhar also at the club, the partnership between FFT and Melbourne City is now proving a fruitful one.

The Tasmanian presence was also out in force at the half-time at the Melbourne City v Newcastle Jets with Riverside Olympic Juniors being invited over to be involved with the half time activities. The also got to meet former Riverside Junior player Atkinson as part of their experience.
