About the NDC Program

FFT’s National Development Centre (NDC) is the highest quality elite pathway available to young footballers in Tasmania.

The Tasmanian NDC, based in Hobart and Launceston forms a key part of Football Federation Australia’s National Talented Player Pathway.

The male target age-group is U13 to U17 and is aimed at developing players to standards where they can be considered for the Australian Institute of Sport and the U17 National Team – the Joeys – or National Youth League clubs.

The key female target age group is U20. Players will be generally be considered for entry into the NDC program once they enter into the U16 age group with the aim being to produce players for the National U17 Team – the Young Matildas – or for Matildas or W-League squads.

The main focus of both programs is to support the identified footballers in the advancement of their game knowledge, skills and understanding through a high performance training and match environment. This environment generally consists of training or matches 4-6 days per week.

The Programs are overseen by Kenny Weston (Male Program) and Michael Edwards (Female Program). Both coaches are highly accredited and experienced. Both have international coaching experience and have worked either at National team or National League level in Australia.

The two programs, male and female, are governed by FFA and FFT and are supported by the Tasmanian Government through Sport and Recreation Tasmania and Tasmanian Institute of Sport.
